Who is Ms. Dorothy

Ms. Dorothy was a twice divorced single mom of seven children.  Her children varied in age from the oldest being a young man in the Army to the youngest being in kindergarten.  And in the midst of this, her second divorce she was diagnosed with terminal Cancer and less than a year to live.  In addition, she was informed that her employer had changed medical carriers therefore her Cancer was considered a pre-existing illness and she was not covered.  Until this time she was a casual Christian who often went to church as was the tradition of her family.  Little did she know how her life was about to be transformed by her troubles.  Soon she would learn that her troubles carried great blessings.

2Corinthians 4:17

“For this light momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison”

Ms. Dorothy and her children would hit rock bottom and suffer evictions and much uncertainty.  Eventually she and her minor children would move into Dixie Court public housing project.  And she and the kids would join the local congregation, Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.  It was there that she began to have an intimate relationship with the Lord.  It was there that she got to know the God that Jeremiah spoke of……….

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for your good and not for evil, to give you hope and a future”

Ms. Dorothy introduced her children to Jesus again.  This time she was prepared to teach her children how to be in relationship with the Lord.  God also gave her the desire of her heart in that her children grew to really accept Jesus as Savior.  Also, they all became financially stable.  One of her favorite scriptures is

 Psalm 37:25

“I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread”

What the Lord did for Ms. Dorothy He will do for others because He has a plan for our lives.
